About this site

The general concept for this web page is to provide friends and family a way to communicate with me. This has been called Soiled Linen at times but for the rest of the web it is called a Web Log.
This page best viewed from where I am sitting. Second to that, you should use a w3c compliant browser (i.e. NOT MS IE). This site is hosted on NFSN using pivot content management.

Happy Thanksgiving. Our plans for thanksgiving are to be at her parents house. I will probably not be updating the site until early next week depending on library schedules and personal free time sync since I have no "paid for" internet access. :)

However; as promised here are some pictures of the newest addition to the family.

23 Nov '04 - 10:11 | Karma: + 1 - 0 | § Day 4

At 07:51 this morning Aby was 4 days old. Last night was the first night at home and Aby had us up several times for food and dirty diapers but not as bad as everyone predicted it would be. The week is young though and Kim is feeling fatigue quickly but is still hanging in.
Next, I want to relate a bit of history. I was born April 6 1974. Just before that, (April 3-4) there was a Super Tornado Outbreak. When I left Oklahoma, in March '99, my departure was followed by an F4 tornado that May and when I left Madison, WI in February 2004, my departure was followed by a tornado the following June. Well, down here in Austin, one week before Aby was born, it started raining. It has not quit yet and everything is getting flooded. Coincidence? :)

22 Nov '04 - 14:25 | Karma: + 0 - 1 | § This baby brought to you by the letter A...

Baby and Mom were released from the Hospital at 13:30 this afternoon and have safely arrived home. Kim and I would sincerely like to thank:

... and I would personally like to thank my sweetest love, Kimberly. She worked so very hard to keep the baby inside when contractions started at 22 weeks and almost weekly frightful ER trips when pain and discomfort seemed to predict an early term baby.
The next six weeks will be very exciting so stay tuned for the next exiting episode from Austin TX.

20 Nov '04 - 12:33 | Karma: + 1 - 0 | § Abygail Sarah Black

Aby was born at 07:51 (am) yesterday morning. 8lbs 3.8 oz, 21.5 inches long
Mommy was a bit tense and nervous about surgery and such. She tries to hide her emotions but I could feel it. I was with her during the surgery, and it was relatively quick. No sooner had she had the spinal block than they had popped out Aby.
Aby has black curly hair, my forehead, her nose is a combination of Kims and mine, and she has my ears with Kim's mouth and eyes. She is very beautiful (if I do not mind saying so myself) :).
We are currently at Seton Southwest Hospital and should be there until Sunday recouperating and learning to feed the baby.
Pictures will follow soon.

Dr. appt yesterday said everything is set to go. Tomorrow morning at 7:30 the c-section should begin and shortly after that we will have a new family member. We have bags packed for mom, baby, Ryan and I. Ryan will be staying at his grandparents house tonight so he will not need to get up at 04:30 in the morning to head to the hospital. Crib is set, cradle is set, we have some diapers so what else is there? (joke people, joke)

Anyway, I am sure the next 3 days will fly by fast.

C-section is currently scheduled for 07:30 Nov 19 (this Friday). If we make it that far.
Friday was our last ultrasound, statements from the ultrasound tech were that baby's abdomin is a 40 week abdomin and her approximate weight is 7lbs 11oz (estimated 8lbs+ by this Friday).
The other baby (Ryan) went to see his first movie. Kim and I took him to "The Incredibles". He enjoyed the popcorn better, but he did make it through 80% of the movie before attention was up. Being rainy we did not make our weekly trip to the park, but we did go "shopping" walking around some stores looking at things.

08 Nov '04 - 15:52 | Karma: + 0 - 1 | § Week end and beginning

Ever wonder who invented the reverse paper towel roll? You know, then one that cleaning wipes come in, or commercial paper towel rolls. Who would think to unravel it from the inside out?

This past weekened was adventurous. For the first time in a long time the sum of the bank account was greater than 0. That means we could make it zero voluntarily, which we did. Bought a high-chair/swing made by Kolcraft. Seems it goes for 119 or more. Bought it for 65.00 at the local kid store looks brand new and has many positive reviews around the 'net. We also went to see Alfie.

05 Nov '04 - 13:22 | Karma: + 0 - 1 | § Zen

I have been reading Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance lately. I read it when I first signed on to the internet in '90 but could not get into it. I did not really understand. Reading it this time has been riveting. My dad told me when I was a young boy, that the more fiction I read the better I would get to know myself. I have been reading fiction ever since and I think this book has helped me take the next step into finding out who I am.
I am not a romantic, I am a realist. At times, I am rude becuase I do not give the romantic notions the slightest nod and acutally dismiss them so that I automatically alienate the romantic personality type. I could go on and on, but figured I should at least link up the book.

Oh, and I also added an October Photo Album to the photo gallery.

...and may the best man win. Well, on second thought, since Badnarik has a snowball's chance in Texas of winning anything, may the least damaging man win. I suppose I could hope that Kerry wins because, as somebody pointed out since I was not quick enough to come up with this, gridlock would ensue. Nothing would get done and we could rest in stale-mate for 4 years, or until the Democraps take over congress...

This weekend was pretty quick. Friday we had a trip to the hospital, everything checked out ok so we went home. Saturday we took it easy. Played at the park, walked around the grocery store, searched for pockets of water that a mosquito could live in. We did happen to find a folgers can hiding in the bush to the side o the walk way. Dumped and chucked that puppy fast as we could. Continued...
